Tony Jones Meet the Author

7 Nov 2019

ABC Q&A host and one of Australia’s most admired journalists, Tony Jones,is moving to China. But first he’s coming to Canberra for a conversation with Mark Kennyabout Tony’s new political thriller, In Darkness Visible, and his life as a journalist.

In Darkness Visible is an intriguing and gripping novel that blurs the lines between fiction and worldwide political reality. It follows the same main characters featured in his bestselling debut novel, The Twentieth Man, namely Croatian-Australian Marin Katich, and freelance Australian journalist Anna Rosen.

From Croatia to The Hague to Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sydney, Anna and Marin’s story intertwine in what Jennifer Byrne has called “a racy, classy political thriller”. In Darkness Visible navigates the murky world of national and international secret agencies, amid a dangerous pursuit of justice and revenge, as Anna must fight for what she believes in and for those she loves.

There will also be an opportunity for audience Q&A with the master of Q&A!

Mark Kenny is Senior Fellow at the Australian Studies Institute ANU, an appointment following a high-profile journalistic career culminating in six years as chief political correspondent and national affairs editor of The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and The Canberra Times. He is a regular on the ABC’s Insiders program, Sky News Agenda, and radio programs across the country.

The vote of thanks will be given by Sally Pryor, the Features Editor of The Canberra Times.
