Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a world where women and men are equally represented in key decision-making roles across government?
Join us on Tuesday 24 November to hear from Hon Dame Annette King and Hannah Birdsey and find out.
Hon Dame Annette King has lived in that world. Prior to taking up her current position as New Zealand High Commissioner, in Jacinda Ardern’s government, she served as Deputy Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party and Deputy Leader of the Opposition from 2008 at 2011 and from 2014 until 2017.
This She Leads In-Conversation will capture a candid conversation about what equal representation looks like, as well as Annette’s personal journey and the longevity and depth of leadership she has demonstrated throughout her career. She will discuss memorable moments that defined her leadership style, as well as moral issues that she struggled with in her leadership journey.
Annette was a Senior Cabinet Minister in the Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand and was the MP for the Rongotai electorate in Wellington from 1996 to 2017. Her portfolios included Health, Police, Transport, and Justice.
She Leads In-Conversation events aim to provide the community with the opportunity to hear from women leaders from different backgrounds and industries, in a conversational format, followed by a live Q&A session and networking. Men are actively welcomed to attend.
In Conversation with Hon Dame Annette King and Hannah Birdsey, Assistant Secretary of Governance, Fragility and Water Branch at DFAT, will be at the Cultural Centre Kambri (ANU Building 153), University Ave, Acton ACT 2601 on Tuesday 24 November 2020 from 6pm to 8pm.
The cost is $40 for YWCA Canberra members and Australian National University students and $55 for non-members.
What does your ticket include?
- Entry into the She Leads In-Conversation event
- A selection of delicious canapés
- The opportunity to connect with and be inspired by women leaders
YWCA Canberra believes that all women should be paid for their work. As a result, the cost of your ticket price also ensures that we are able to continue to pay our speakers.
Our She Leads events sell out quickly, so grab a ticket as soon as possible.
There is parking next to the Cultural Centre, or in the city, just a short walk away.
Photographs will be taken at this event. If you do not wish to have your photo published, please contact the She Leads team at [email protected].
