Sophie Edwards is fast becoming one of Canberra’s most well-known singer songwriters. Training at the Australian National University School of Music, Sophie demonstrates unmistakable vocal quality in her live shows and has a remarkable ability to capture her musical ideas with beautiful melody lines and descriptive, yet simple, metaphors.
Taking influences from artists such as Missy Higgins, Meg Mac, Vera Blue and Gretta Ray, this young artist blends the sounds of jazz, folk, acoustic and contemporary genres into her own unique and honest style.
In 2020, Sophie signed with Vacant Room Records and has since released her first major single, Early Bird. The song has been streamed on Spotify over 10,000 times and received radio airplay across Australia.
Sophie’s skill and talent as a musician have been well recognised in Canberra and she’s performed at many of the city’s most popular stages and events including the Groovin the Moo Warm Up Party, The National Folk Festival, Googfest and most recently, Live in Ya Lounge.
