Join Paul McDermott and Peter Fenton in conversation for the launch of Ghostbear. Written and illustrated by Paul, Ghostbear is meditation on memory and the beauty of life. Join Paul and Peter for a surprising discussion of art, life, death and beyond, and an exploration of a multi-faceted artistic career in an evening that will no doubt veer from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Signed copies of Ghostbear will be available at Harry Hartog Bondi, where those purchasing a copy will also go in the draw to win a limited edition signed print by Paul McDermott.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Paul McDermott is an Australian comedian, actor, writer, director, singer, artist and television personality, and immediately recognizable as the host of Good News Week and as a member of the musical comedy group the Doug Anthony All Stars. He has also previously written and illustrated two children’s books, The Scree and The Girl Who Swallowed Bees, both of which he adapted as short films, the latter winning the AFI Award for Best Short Animation. An animated short film of Ghostbear featured in the “Best of Australian” section at Flickerfest in 2019.

Peter Fenton, musician, actor, filmmaker and writer, went from Crow, one of the most important Australian bands to come out of the 1990s, to lead roles in the critically-acclaimed film Praise, adapted from the Vogel Award-winning novel by Andrew McGahan, and the ABC series ‘Love is a Four Letter Word’. His latest short film as co-producer/actor, Bunny New Girl, has screened in over 25 countries at 110 festivals, winning 15 awards and is now an online phenomenon just surpassing 25 million views. His first novel, published in 2019, The Days of In Between has been honoured as a 2020 CBCA Notable.
